Day 5- Naples was one of the most scenic locations I visited while on my 10 day cruise. The prolific flowers, the constant hills and ridges, and the amazing homes and buildings with waterfront views. This place was unlike anything I have ever seen. I started my day in Naples with a bus tour, provided by the cruise. Our tour guide gave details of the city, the history of Mount Vesuvius, the food, the people. We continued our tour on foot through the tight, busy streets and other buildings like ancient churches and ruins. We finished the 4 hour tour with coffee and mini pizzas! I thoroughly enjoyed this day in good ole Napoli!
Day 6- After such a fun day in Naples I was so anxious to port in Rome. I was so impressed with the Italian lifestyle and food! The people seem so happy and comfortable. How can I blame them… it’s amazing here! Although I didn’t exactly land in Rome it was only a quick 1 hour train ride to the city. One step off the train and I was quickly greeted by screaming taxi drivers who were crazy for anyone’s attention! I felt like I was a celebrity and they were the desperate paparazzi. I opted to walk to my destination instead. The only downside to a quick day in Rome is that my cruise required I be back to the ship at a certain time, so doing any tours was out of the question. This meant I wouldn’t be able to go inside any of the major landmarks in Rome; like The Collesium or The Vatican. I was thankful enough to be able to snap pictures of these SPECTACULAR places. I urgently visited each landmark and gazed around enjoying the Italian mentality. Now that I think about it, I wasn’t really looking forward to waiting in a 2 hour long line anyway… my time was precious so I was quite happy with what I was able to get out of it. I had time to sample authentic Italian food. I had the BEST bruschetta I’ve ever had! Something about the tomatoes they used… so juicy and so much flavor!!! (Great, I just made myself hungry now!)
That particular day was extremely hot so I chose to wear a comfortable wrap dress. You can find details of this dress on a previous blog I wrote here .
